Taub Family Vineyards Roots in the Heart of Napa’s Preeminent Sites
One of the most compelling elements about the Napa Valley — and there are many — is its incredible range. It’s exactly the driving force behind Taub Family Vineyards and its proprietor, third-generation Marc Taub.
“All the many microclimates, special sites, soil types, and winemaking philosophies … it’s a thrill and an honor to share our version of wines from Napa Valley with fellow enthusiasts,” he says. “These are our purest expressions of this extraordinary territory.”
With a history that stretches back for the better part of a century, the Taub family have spent generations exploring (and pushing the boundaries of) fine wine. In fact, fine wine has always been the family’s north star. And after watching his father and grandfather explore Italy’s mountainous north in the 1970s — ultimately introducing American consumers to fine Italian pinot grigio — Marc and now his son, Jake, are forging new paths in some of Napa’s most exciting appellations and districts.
The valley oak pictured on the labels is a familiar figure in any Napa landscape, honoring the family’s provenance and devotion to careful stewardship of the land; the diamond embedded at the roots signals the legacy of future generations to come.
Taub Family Vineyards represents some of the best sites in Rutherford, Oakville, Yountville, Mount Veeder, and Howell Mountain. Additionally, through a relationship with famed grower Andy Beckstoffer, the Taub family have access to the remarkable Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III and Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper sites — some of the most hallowed soils and microclimates in California. Each wine embodies a pure expression of its respective AVA and microsite, striving for elegance and extraordinary balance between ripe fruit, deftly integrated oak, and velvety-soft tannins.

What is it about the Napa Valley that has captured the hearts of so many pioneering souls?
Seems impossible that such a tiny stretch of land — just 30 miles long and 5 miles wide — could be home to such vast diversity. And yet, Mother Nature lavished this little pocket of California half of the world’s 12 known soil types, topping it off with an ideal, dry Mediterranean climate (a beneficial rarity enjoyed by a mere 2% of the planet). The varied topography ripples down and around from the Vaca range in the east to the Mayacamas in the west, sweeping up from the valley floor in jagged, dramatic fashion to elevations reaching 2,600 feet above sea level.
It's a magnificent place. Little wonder so many have endeavored to plant their flag here over the last 170-plus years, rooting themselves to the land with a trailblazing spirit that permeates everything, from the many family-owned farms to their historic vineyard sites.
